GoPublish Meta Data Setup: Fix These 2 Common Issues in 5 Minutes

Introduction

GoPublish lets you publish directly from Google Docs to WordPress with automatic SEO metadata transfer. However, most setup problems come down to just two missing pieces: the GoPublish plugin itself or a compatible SEO plugin. This quick guide shows you how to identify and fix both issues in under 5 minutes.

Problem 1: GoPublish Plugin Not Installed

How to know: Google Docs add-on shows “GoPublish plug-in not detected.”

Fix:

1. Go to WordPress Admin → Plugins → Add New
2. Search “GoPublish: Publish from Google Docs to Any Site”
3. Click “Install Now” then “Activate”
4. Look for “GoPublish” menu in your WordPress admin
5. Select the SEO plugin which you want to use with GoPublish

Note: GoPublish will have an already selected SEO plug-in if it’s installed and active.

GoPublish supports following plug-ins:

• Yoast, RankMath
• SEOPress
• All in One SEO Pack
• Squirrly SEO.

Problem 2: No Supported SEO Plugin Active

How to know: Google Docs add-on shows “No SEO plugins are active on this site.”

Fix:

1. Go to WordPress Admin → Plugins → Add New
2. Search “Yoast SEO” (recommended)
3. Click “Install Now” then “Activate”
4. Follow the basic setup wizard of Yoast (5 minutes)
5. Go back to GoPublish settings – should now show “Yoast SEO” in the selected plug-ins

Other supported SEO plugins: RankMath, SEOPress, All in One SEO Pack, Squirrly SEO

Problem 3: Connection Not Established After Setup

How to know: GoPublish plugin is installed and active, and the SEO plugin is also selected but Google Docs add-on still don’t display that the meta data connection is active.

Fix:

1. Purge your cache (if you have a caching plugin like WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, etc.)
2. In Google Docs add-on, click on “Re-check” to refresh the connection – should show “Connected”
